4WD SET-UP PROCEDURE

(a) - 4WD system cannot be shifted to 2WD. Do Not Test on Dynamometer.

(b) - Shift transfer case lever into 2H.

(c)- Press 2HI switch above radio. This selects 2WD position.

(d) - Shift transfer case lever to 2H or 2WD mode.

(e) – Place 4WD switch located on instrument panel in 2WD position. Indicator lamp on instrument cluster should indicate 2WD.

(f) – A switch on overhead console will shift system into FWD mode.

(g) - Shift the transfer case shifter into "2H" position to shift to 2WD, or vehicles with the "Touch Drive" system push the "LOW RANGE" and/or "4 x 4" buttons until both indicator lamps are off, to place vehicle into 2WD mode. Indicator lamps are on the lower right corner of the instrument panel or on the overhead console.

(h) - Shift the transfer case shifter into the "2H" position to shift to 2WD, or vehicles with the "Electronic Shift 4WD System" or "Control-Trac" turn the switch located to the right of the steering wheel to the " 2H or 2WD" position to shift to 2WD. On models with manual hubs, place hubs in free position.

(i) - Turn the "Electronic Shift 4WD System" switch to the "2WD" position.

(j) - With MT: locate orange lever behind engine below air induction system. Loosen lock bolt at slotted lever. Turn middle bolt on lever counterclockwise and tighten lock bolt. With AT: locate disengagement plate at rear of transmission case under vehicle behind right front wheel. Loosen lock bolt on plate. Turn middle bolt on plate 150 degrees counterclockwise until it stops. Tighten lock bolt.

(k) - Ensure transfer case lever is in HIGH position. Press 4WD button under lefthand vent. 4WD indicator lamp is next to ABS lamp under speedometer and tachometer. Ensure lamp is off.

(l) - Shift transfer case lever into 2H. 4WD indicator lamp is above speedometer. Be sure lamp is off.

(m) - With manual transfer case, shift transfer case lever to the 2H position.

(n) - Be sure transfer case lever is in HIGH position. Press 4WD button under lefthand vent. 4WD indicator lamp is next to ABS lamp under speedometer and tachometer. Ensure lamp is off.

(o) - With electronic transfer case, press 2 HI button on instrument panel

(p) - Ensure transfer case lever is in HIGH position. Turn TOD system off by pressing 4WD AUTO switch under center vents. TOD indicator by tachometer will show rear wheels lit.

(q) - Move the transfer case shifter into 2WD position.

(r) - Move the Range Shift Lever into HI position and move the Mode Switch into "2WD" position.

(s) - With manual shift transfer case, move lever to 2H. With automatic shift transfer case, twist knob on instrument panel to 2WD position.

(t) - Move transfer case shift lever to 2H.

(u) – Move switch on right side of steering wheel stack to 2WD. Be sure that both 4WD lamps are not lit and center Center Differential Lock is off.

(v) - Move the drive range selector lever on the center console to the FWD position to disengage the rear axle.

(w) - Shift transfer case lever to H2 position. Be sure 4WD indicator lamp is off, if equipped.

(x) - With electronic shift transfer case, press the 2WD/4HI switch so that the 4HI and 4LO lamps are not lit.

(y) - With electronic shift transfer case, with shift lever in H position, press button on side of shift knob so that the rear wheels in the 4WD indicator are lit only.

(z) - Shift transfer case lever to FWD

(aa) - Move button on the automatic transmission shift selector to the FWD position.

(ab) – Shift transfer case lever to 2H position. Move locking hub to Free position at both left and right front wheels.

(ac) – Shift transfer case lever to 2H position. With steering wheel in straight ahead position, slowly move vehicle approximately 20 ft. in direction opposite to which the vehicle was operated prior to shifting transfer case.

(ad) –Mode selector switch is mounted on instrument panel. With vehicle stopped, pull lock pin downward and hold, then move switch lever to 2WD. It may be necessary to move vehicle slightly forward or rearward to disengage axle and transfer case.

(ae) - Shift transfer case lever to H position, then depress 4WD switch. Be sure vehicle is in 2WD.

(af) - Press button on instrument panel to select 2HI position. The switch indicator lamp will flash until new position is active, then the indicator lamp will remain on.

(ag) – Turn switch on instrument panel to select 2WD position. The switch indicator LED will flash until new position is active, then the indicator LED will remain on.

(ah) – Rotate switch on lefthand side of instrument panel to select 2WD position. The indicator lamp symbol should light on rear wheels only.

(ai) – Rotate switch on lefthand side of instrument panel to 2H. This selects 2WD position.

(aj) – Models less differential lock cannot be tested on Dynamometer.

TRACTION CONTROL DISABLE PROCEDURE

(1) - Traction control cannot be disabled. Do Not Test on Dynamometer

(2) - TCS switch is under the lefthand vent. With ignition On, push switch to turn on TCS lamp on tachometer.

(3) - TCS switch is under trip set knob. With ignition On, push switch to turn on TCS lamp above speedometer.

(4) - TCS switch is under lefthand vent. With ignition On, push switch to turn on lamp under temperature gauge.

(5) - VSA switch is under lefthand vent. With ignition On, push switch to turn on VSA lamp above temperature gauge.

(6) - The ASC (Automatic Stability Control) or DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) switch on the center console disables system and lights a warning lamp at the bottom of the instrument cluster between the speedometer and tachometer.

(7) - The ASC (Automatic Stability Control) switch on the instrument panel to the left of the steering column disables system and lights a warning lamp at the bottom of the instrument cluster between the speedometer and tachometer.

(8) - The ASC (Automatic Stability Control) switch on the center console disables system and lights a warning lamp at the top of the instrument cluster between the speedometer and tachometer.

(9) - Press button located at end of shift lever. TRAC OFF indicator will light when system has been disabled.

(10) - Press the TRAC switch located on instrument panel. TRAC OFF indicator will light when system has been disabled.

(11) - Press ASR switch located above the radio. When ASR is disabled, ASR warning lamp will light.

(12) - Traction control switch is part of Twilight Sentinel/Panel Dim assembly.

(13) – Switch is located on instrument panel.

(14) - Press TRACTION CONTROL button located to the left of steering wheel.

(15) - Press the "T/C OFF" button located at lefthand side of radio to disable system. The T/C OFF lamp will light and/or message center will indicate T/C Off when system is off.

(16) - Press TRAC OFF button inside glove box. TRACTION OFF will display on the Driver Information Center.

(17) - Press TRAC ON/OFF button on center console. Instrument panel TRACTION CONTROL indicator lamp will light.

(18) - Press the traction control disable button on the instrument panel for 2 seconds.

(19) - Unplug wire connector to spare tire.

(20) - Press TCS OFF button next to radio on center console. TRAC OFF indicator will light when system has been disabled.

(21) - Press TRACTION CONTROL switch inside glove box. TRACTION CONTROL warning lamp on instrument panel will light.

(22) - Press VSC OFF switch on instrument panel. VSC OFF lamp on instrument panel will light.

(23) - Press ASR button on console or instrument panel. ASR OFF lamp will light.

(24) - Press the "T/C OFF" or “TRAC OFF” button on lefthand side of instrument panel to disable system. The switch will light when system is off.

(25) - Press TRAC OFF button on lefthand side of instrument panel. TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(26) – With 4-speed automatic transaxle, ETS will not operate when transaxle selector is in 1 or 2 position. ETS OFF lamp will light.

(27) – A switch on the instrument panel disables system. Press the switch until the TRAC OFF lamp is lit in the message center/instrument cluster.

(28) - Press the "T/C OFF" button to the left of the steering wheel to disable system. The "TRACTION CONTROL" lamp will light when system is off.

(29) - Press "T/C OFF" button at center of instrument panel. The word "OFF" lights when the system is disabled. NOTE: Some vehicles may have a T/C disable button in the glove box.

(30) - Press the "TRAC" button on the lefthand side of the glove box to disable system. "TRAC CNTL" will light in the instrument cluster when system is off.

(31) - Press the instrument panel traction control button (wheel spinning symbol). A lamp lights when the system is disabled.

(32) - Press the traction assist switch to disable system. The word "OFF" lights when the system is disabled.

(33) - Press the traction assist button inside the console to disable system. "T/A OFF" will light in instrument cluster when system is off.

(34) - TCS switch is under the lefthand vent. Press switch to turn on TCS lamp.

(35) - TCS switch is on center console under ashtray. Press switch to turn on TCS-OFF lamp above temperature gauge.

(36) - Press TCS or TCS OFF switch. TCS OFF lamp in instrument cluster will light.

(37) - With ignition on, press TCS switch on the console below the shift lever (early models) or left side of instrument panel (late models). TCS OFF lamp will display in instrument panel.

(38) – An instrument panel switch to the right of the steering wheel disables the traction control system and lights a warning lamp on the left side of the instrument cluster.

(39) - The TRAC OFF (Traction Control Off) or ASC (Automatic Stability Control) switch on the console disables the system and lights a warning lamp on the instrument cluster.

(40) - The DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) switch on the console disables the system and lights a warning lamp in the instrument cluster.

(41) - Press TRAC OFF or VSC OFF switch on lower right side of instrument panel by steering wheel. TRAC OFF or VSC OFF lamps will light on instrument panel.

(42) - Press TRAC OFF switch on lower right side of instrument panel by steering wheel. Instrument panel TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(43) - Press VSC OFF switch located on console below shift lever. VSC OFF lamp will light on instrument panel.

(44) - Press TRAC OFF or VSC OFF switch below radio. TRAC OFF or VSC OFF lamp will light on instrument panel.

(45) - Press TRAC OFF switch on console near shift lever. Instrument panel TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(46) - Press TRAC OFF switch on lower left side of instrument panel by hood release. Instrument panel TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(47) - Press the Traction Assist switch. The word "OFF" will light in switch when system is disabled

(48) - Press "TRAC ASST." switch on console. The word "OFF" will light in switch when system is disabled.

(49) - Press "TRAC" button (wheel spinning symbol) to disable Traction control. Also push "ATS" button (vehicle skidding symbol) to disable the Advance Trac Stability Enhancement System. A lamp in both buttons will light by the word "OFF".

(50) - Turn Traction Control off from the "Message Center". "T/C OFF" will light when system is disabled. NOTE: Traction Control Menu option will not appear in the Message Center if the vehicle does not have Traction Control.

(51) - Press the Traction Control Switch to the left of the steering wheel to disable system. Traction Control may have to be disabled from the "Message Center" on some models.

(52) - Press TCS OFF button on console by shift lever. TCS OFF lamp in instrument cluster will light.

(53) - Press TCS switch on lower left side of instrument panel. TCS OFF lamp in instrument cluster will light.

(54) - The ASR (Acceleration Slip Regulation) or ESP (Electronic Stability Program) switch on the center console disables the system and lights a warning lamp on the speedometer face. Four-wheel dynamometer test required.

(55) - The ESP (Electronic Stability Program) switch on the center console disables the system and lights a warning lamp on the speedometer face. Four-wheel dynamometer test required.

(56) - Press ASR switch. When ASR is disabled, ASR warning lamp will light.

(57) - Press TRAC OFF button on instrument panel switch bank. TRAC OFF instrument cluster lamp will light.

(58) -Press the ETS button on the center console. The TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(59) - Press TRACTION or TRACTION CONTROL button on the center console. The TRAC OFF lamp will light when system is disabled.

(60) - Press T/C button located to the right of steering wheel. The TRACTION OFF lamp will light.

(61) - TCS switch is located below the center air vent. Press switch to turn system off. TCS lamp will light.

(62) - All except Elite, see footnote d. Elite, press switch in front door trim panel. The TRACTION OFF lamp will light

(63) - Press TCS button on the instrument panel or in the center console switch bank. The TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(64) - Press TRACTION CONTROL button near the shift lever. TRAC OFF lamp on instrument panel will light.

(65) - Press TRACTION CONTROL button on the center console.

(66) - Press TRACTION button. TSC OFF lamp will light.

(67) – Press TCS (Traction Control System) or TRAC switch. When system turns off, the indicator lamp on the switch button should go off and stay off.

(68) - The TCS (Traction Control System) switch, located below the climate control panel, disables the system and lights an instrument panel TCS OFF warning lamp.

(69) - Press TCS button on front of center console. TCS OFF lamp will light.

(70) - Press ETS button on the instrument panel. The TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(71) - Press TRAC or TCS button by the Driver Information Center or Trip Computer. The TRAC OFF or TCS lamp will light.

(72) – Press TCS switch on lefthand side of instrument panel. TCS lamp will light.

(73) - The instrument panel traction control switch disables the system and lights a warning lamp.

(74) - The TCS (Traction Control System) switch on the dash to the right of the steering wheel disables the system and lights a TCS OFF instrument panel warning lamp.

(75) - The TC/Off (Traction Control Off) switch on the dash to the left of the steering wheel disables the system and lights a warning lamp on the instrument panel.

(76) - Press traction control switch TRAC OFF button. Ensure TRAC OFF lamp on instrument panel lights.

(77) - The TRACS (Traction Control System) or STC (Stability and Traction Control) switch on the dash to the right of the steering wheel disables the system and lights a warning lamp on the instrument panel below the tachometer.

(78) - The STC (Stability Traction Control), DSA (Dynamic Stability Assistance) and/or DSTC (Dynamic Stability Traction Control) switch on the center console disables the system and lights a warning lamp on the instrument panel. Also, on models equipped, disengage transmission Winter/Wet driving mode by depressing W switch on center console near shift lever. Switch LED will go off when Winter/Wet mode is disengaged.

(79) – TCS switch is located on instrument panel behind righthand control pod. Start engine, then push switch to deactivate system. TCS lamp to right of speedometer should turn on.

(80) – Press TCS (Traction Control System) switch button located on left side of steering column. When TCS system is off, the indicator lamp on the switch button should go off and stay off.

(81) - Press the traction control button on the instrument panel to disable system. TRAC CNTL or a skidding vehicle symbol will light when system is off.

(82) - The ASC (Automatic Stability Control) or DSC (Dynamic Stability Control) switch on the center console disables system and lights a warning lamp at the bottom of the instrument cluster between the speedometer and tachometer. On models equipped with DSC and ADB (Automatic Differential Braking), depress and hold the DSC switch button for at least 3 seconds. The DSC and yellow brake warning lamps will remain on the entire time the DSC, ABD and DBC (Dynamic Brake Control) systems are switched off.

(83) – Place TCL switch located at lefthand side of instrument panel in Off position. TCL Off indicator lamp on instrument cluster should light.

(84) - Press the T/C OFF or TRAC OFF button on instrument panel center finish panel near radio to disable system. The switch will light when system is off.

(85) – TCS switch is under lefthand vent. Start engine, then push switch. TCS lamp on lower portion of speedometer should turn on.

(86) – TCS switch is under lefthand vent. Start engine, then push switch. TCS lamp on lower portion of tachometer should turn on.

(87) - Press the OFF or VSC OFF button on traction control switches. Ensure VSC OFF lamp on instrument panel lights.

(88) - Press instrument panel TRAC OFF switch. TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(89) - Press ETS OFF button on shift lever handle. ETS OFF lamp will light when ETS is disabled.

(90) - Press traction control button on instrument panel. TRACTION OFF lamp will light on instrument panel.

(91) - Press TRAC OFF switch located below radio. TRAC OFF lamp will light on switch.

(92) - Press TRAC OFF switch located on shifter handle. TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(93) - Press TRAC OFF switch on center console. Instrument panel TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(94) - Press TRAC OFF switch located near radio. Instrument panel TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(95) - Press "T/C OFF" button to the right side of the instrument cluster. The word OFF lights when the system is disabled.

(96) – Press TCS (Traction Control System) switch button located at center of instrument panel near cigarette lighter. When TCS system is off, the indicator lamp on the switch should go off and stay off.

(97) - Press the "T/C OFF" button located in front of gearshift lever to disable system. The switch will light when system is off.

(98) - Press TRAC ON/OFF button on center console. TRAC OFF indicator lamp on instrument panel will light.

(99) - Press "T/C OFF" button located on steering column to disable system. TRAC OFF indicator lamp on instrument panel will light.

(100) - Press TRACTION CONTROL button located in console. Appropriate message will appear on Driver Information Center (DIC).

(101) - Press TRACTION button located inside glove compartment. TRACTION OFF lamp on instrument panel will light.

(102) - Press Traction button (skidding vehicle symbol) on instrument panel. TRACTION OFF lamp on instrument panel will light. STABILITY SYS DISABLED will appear in DIC.

(103) –Press top of ETS button near instrument panel rheostat. TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(104) - Press TAS (Traction Assist System) button. TRAC OFF symbol lamp will light.

(105) - Press Traction Control button. Lamp in top of button lights when traction control system is off. Lamp in bottom of button lights when system is on.

(106) - Press TC2 button on instrument panel. TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(107) - Press TCS switch on lefthand side of instrument panel. TCS OFF lamp will light.

(108) - To send maximum torque to rear wheels, bring vehicle to a complete stop. Place transmission in Reverse, First or Second gear, then press VTM-4 Lock button next to radio. VTM-4 Lock lamp will light.

(109) –Press center console TC button. An instrument cluster “No TC” lamp will light. TRACTION OFF will appear on DIC for three seconds.

(110) – Press traction control switch (skidding vehicle symbol). Traction control indicator in instrument cluster will light when system is enabled, when the traction control switch has been used to turn system off, if there is a traction control system fault condition or if system has deactivated because of overheated brake temperatures.

(111) – ETS system will not operate when transaxle selector is in 1 or 2 position. TRAC OFF lamp will light.

(112) –Press TC button adjacent to shift lever. Traction control system will turn off and system warning lamp will light. Press TC button again to turn system back on. Pressing and holding TC button for five seconds will disable Stabilitrak system and traction control system. Press TC button again to turn Stabilitrak on again.

(113) –Press center console TC button. TRACTION SYSTEM-OFF will appear on DIC.

(114) –Press ETS or TC button on center console under heater and A/C controls.  Instrument panel warning lamp will light.

(115) –Apply parking brake.

(116) – Press traction control button on instrument panel. ETS warning lamp will light.

(117) –Press VDC OFF switch on instrument panel lower section. VDC OFF lamp will light.

(118) –Press AdvanceTrac button (skidding vehicle symbol). TRAC OFF lamp in cluster will light.

(119) –Press AdvanceTrac Off button (skidding vehicle symbol). A lamp in button will light, or ADVANCETRAC OFF will appear on models equipped with Message Center.

(120) –Press AdvanceTrac Off button (skidding vehicle symbol). A lamp in button will light, or ADVANCETRAC OFF will appear on models equipped with Message Center. To disable AWD mode, AWD LOCKED can still be engaged by pressing SETUP (the message center will display AWD <DISABLED> LOCKED), then pressing RESET. AWD LOCK lamp will light and message center will display AWD DISABLED <LOCKED>. To disable AWD, press RESET.  System will momentarily revert to AWD AUTO mode, then AWD LOCK lamp in instrument cluster will blink eight times every two minutes. The display will then show AWD <DISABLED> LOCKED for four seconds, then turn off.

(121) – Press TCS OFF switch. TCS OFF lamp in instrument cluster will light. On models equipped with Vehicle Dynamic Control, press VDC OFF switch. VDC OFF lamp in instrument cluster will light.

(122) –Press TC button. TRAC OFF message will appear at bottom of speedometer.

(123) –Press traction control “Off” button on console. Button will light while system is disabled.

(124) –Press ON side of TCL switch, located in console. TCL and TRACE-OFF  lamps will light. Press OFF side of switch. TCL-OFF lamp will light. Turn ignition Off to return to normal operation.

(125) –Remove red 10 ampere fuse from multi-purpose fuse box position No. 9 before beginning dynamometer test. This disables the traction control system. Install fuse after testing has been completed.
